Evil Knievel, Jr.

As you may remember, last year (for Alex's 3rd birthday), we bought him his very own Power Wheel ATV.  He started out a little slow at first, but since his birthday one short year ago. he's been a riding, zooming, exploring fool.

He's practically ridden a path across the majority of our 5 acres riding that thing around as often as he's allowed.

Well, with all that practice he's definitely become quite, er, comfortable on his ATV.

And by comfortable, I, of course, mean adventurous.

A smidge wild, perhaps.

Maybe more accurately, CRAZY.

Ok, so there's been talk of him joining the circus.

You know...to be one of those daredevils that ride their motorcycles around a tiny metal cage within mere inches of 6 other motorcyclists going 60+ mph.

Yep, that's our Alex.  Crazy boy.  Our wild child.  Our daredevil.

Oh yeah, I'm pretty sure he's a descendant of Evil Knieval's.

Goo(d) Fun

The boys got to take a "bath" in a tub full of goo tonight.  Talk about fun!  For two little boys who LOVE all things slimy, gooey, dirty, and/or gross...this is PERFECT!

I found this stuff at Wal-Mart the other day and grabbed it on a whim.  You add it to a tub of water and within seconds it turns regular old water into this gooey substance.

It's pretty cool!  The boys had a blast "swimming" and playing in this slimy goo.

Then, when you're all goo'd out, there's a second step that you add that turns it all back into water...The boys were bummed to see it go, but the good news is, it's a 2-pack!!  We'll have another night of fun in the very near future!

Dirt Magnets

My boys (in case you haven't noticed) are dirt magnets.  Of course it doesn't hurt that we live on 5 acres of nothing but dirt.  Or that I rather enjoy sitting back and watching them be kids.

But if given the slightest opportunity, my boys will revel in being dirty.

Today was no different.

We have a dirt pile behind our house that the boys love to scale, conquer, and then slide/roll/fall down.

Repeatedly.

Thank God for a (strong!) new washing machine and OxyClean!  You should see the dirt ring these two leave on my bathtub nearly every night!  Oh, but the fun they have and the joy on their faces is immeasurable!

Black, Gray, Navy, Brown

There is a reason why the wardrobes of both my children mysteriously and very obviously shifted from sweet pastel colors and soft shades of green, blue and ivory to primarily navy, red, black, gray, and brown.  I'm not kidding...it's an obvious change that occurred somewhere around 6-9 months.  About the time my children started ingesting foods that invariably stained as often as they came back up.  And the age at which they started moving freely about my less than spotless home.  I refuse to purchase clothing for my children that is a light shade or color without first coming to terms with the fact that it will be ruined and rendered useless within no more than 5 minutes of its first wearing.

Here's a few examples of why it's best to keep them in dark colors at all times.

My boys are filthy creatures (Alex specifically!) so I like to keep them dressed
in clothes that will stain infrequently and wash with ease.
Call me crazy but it's a lot easier than just trying to keep them clean all the time.
And a lot more fun!

Booger Boy

Those of you who are friends of mine on Facebook have seen a lot of recent status update activity centering on the topic of boogers, as they relate to my three-year-old.

He is obsessed with boogers.  He is (more often that not) caught with his finger up his nose, digging for gold.  I don't know if this is a boy thing, a 3-year-old thing, or just my son's idea of a good time, but I think it's gross.

(perfectly good picture ruined by that blasted nose picking)

Here's an actual conversation Nathaniel and I had recently:

Me:  Nate, why are you always picking your nose?
Nate:  Because I have boogers.
Me:  Do you need a kleenex, Nate?
Nate:  No, I have this (holds up his finger).
Me:  Nate, please stop picking your nose, that's gross.
Nate:  That's not gross, it's lish-us.
Me:  It's delicious?  Really?
Nate:  Yes, it's lish-us.  Yum!
Me:  So if boogers are so yummy, do you want them for dinner?
Nate:  No, just for nack (snack!)

Oh.  Ok.  Thanks for clearing that up for me.  :)
