A couple months ago, I bit the bullet and decided to take some ACTION in achieving my dreams. Sitting back on my laurels and hoping for something to happen wasn't getting me anywhere. So, I established Dream Big Day (Monday) to give me some concrete time set aside specifically to chisel away at my to do list. That very first DMD back in August, I decided to start small and upload a photo I had recieved much positive Facebook feedback on to Kodak's Picture of the Day website.
Well it paid off!! On October 14th, Kodak picked MY picture for their POTD! I stumbled upon it a couple weeks later and was SO excited to see MY picture staring back at me from their website!
As silly as it sounds, I felt RECOGNIZED for my photography! It was one of those things on my "bucket list" that I could officially check off. One (giant!) baby step made...now I can move on to my next "big" thing. (Whatever that is!)
Since then I've received requests to purchase copies of the print and it spurred enough confidence for me to set up my first THREE photo shoots for families other than MINE! It's definitely a start! I have so much to learn, but I have the best support system in the universe so hopefully 2012 will be a BIG year for me and for Queen Among Kings Photography!

Simple Woman's Daybook...January 18, 2011
FOR TODAY...January 18, 2011
Outside my window...rain. It's a cold and miserable day. But I'm in NYC. So it's all good!
I am thinking...some fun stuff to do with the kids tomorrow while Tiff has to work. Maybe we'll see what's within walking distance, or do a fun scavenger hunt in the hotel. We shall see...
I am thankful for...friends who inspire me to be a better person, challenge me to step outside of my comfort zone, and encourage me to reach for my dreams!
I am wearing...comfy pants, t-shirt, robe...I actually haven't changed all day. So much nicer than my work "uniform"!
I am remembering...to update my photo-a-day blog...I'm a few days behind so I need to catch up!
I am creating...a plan for our "hotel-schooling" for tomorrow. Nate and Brie are getting a "lesson" each day while they're missing school - it's "M" week and Mrs. Downey sent home a packet of activities for us to work on while we're gone. So, tomorrow we'll do our reading, practice our letters, and pick an activity to work on .
I am going...to bed early tonight. I'm hoping getting more than 6 hours of sleep will help with my patience level tomorrow.
I am hoping...Nate gets a good night's sleep so he is less argumentative and more cooperative tomorrow. Today was a challenging day.
I am hearing...Brielle's bath running, PBS in the background, and Nate going on a fire call.
Around the house...we're in a hotel suite so its not really our house, but we have stuff strewn all about...the kids (Nate & Brie) had "school" earlier and Alex's train tracks are still set up in the hallway.
On my mind...nothing to speak of, really. Which is nice. I don't have work to worry about (for a few more days, anyway). I miss my hubby but he's been busy at home working on projects so I can't wait to see his work!!
One of my favorite things...Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. Because of them, I may never be skinny.
A few plans for the rest of the week: Swimming at the hotel, hanging with Tiff & enjoying our last 4 days in NYC, driving home to see Daddy, whatever else comes our way!
Here is picture for thought I am sharing...
The "crew" awaiting our train into the City. It was cold yesterday but we had a big day (Tiff's birthday) to celebrate so it was the perfect day to get out and do it up big! With no stroller it was a challenge so thank God Jessica was with us to help carry my load (Alex) or I would have pooped out early!

Playing Catch-up
I'm playing catch-up over on my photo(s)-a-day blog tonight. So I haven't really had a chance to put my "pen to paper" (as it were) here.
Regardless of that, today marks the start of a new month and a new NaBloPoMo goal. Even though I missed a day of posting in March (due to my extended stay in NYC), making me a "miss" for my NaBloPoMo goal for last month, I still really enjoy the daily habit of writing and sharing here. So, let's take another go, shall we?. My Bloggoversary is coming up in a couple of weeks, so in honor of one whole year of blogging, I will keep up my daily posting! Aren't you lucky?!?

A Day In The Life...
As I was uploading some photos off my camera(s) the other night and showing some of them to my beloved husband, he kindly (?) asked me if there is ever a day when I DON'T take at least ONE photo. Since my iPhoto account groups my pictures into "events" (at least initially) by date, I scanned said "events", which read something like this: "June 14...June 15...June 16...June 17...June 18". I realized he was right. There is NOT a day (at least not in the recent past) when I have NOT taken at least ONE photo. So, what do I do with this new found knowledge?!?! Why, start a new blog, of course! :)

Inspired, in part, by this conversation and moreso by people with similar ideas and blogs such as those found here (Thanks, Pam!), here, and (my favorite) here (hey, if I can't get up here, I'll make my own!) I decided to follow suit. I will call it "A day in the life..." with a photo posted every day ('cause I have time for this, right?!?) :) We'll see how it goes. It's a good excuse for me to share even MORE photos with you than I already do!! Mwahaha!
So travel on over and check it out by clicking here.
Or take a look here.
Or, if you so choose, stop in HERE!
Just make sure you check it out - The fun begins now!
